ED OKUNO
OUR FOUNDER
Following World War II, Edward Okuno married his wife Alice, and started a family here in Pasadena. In the classic American tradition, he also began his own business. While working as a gardener in the daytime, Ed sold insurance in the evenings, calling on folks who eventually became the first clients for Okuno Associates. Within a short time, he was able to leave the gardening business, devoting his full attention to the growing insurance business. Soon Ed branched into helping people with their investments and planning for retirement, where his work ethic, integrity, and financial know-how combined to help his business flourish. Ed Okuno was not only a gifted businessman, but his diligence and principles guided him to place his clients’ interests first. It is no surprise that his clients stayed with him for life, and we are privileged to serve second and third generations of those original clients today, more than 50 years later.
Although Ed Okuno passed away in 2002, his son, Ken, is continuing the traditions begun by his father. Ken Okuno, CFP™, is our principal at Okuno Associates - financial planner and investment advisor - working hands-on with our clients. Today Okuno Associates represents a significant presence in the Pasadena business community.
